會 務 報 告
華人協會過去數月舉辦的多項活動，受到會員們熱烈的參與。感謝燕京餐廳老闆張英開先生的烹飪示範，會員們學習並品嘗到幾樣他的拿手菜。母親節烤肉活動由多位會友的幫忙，準備了豐盛的野餐，讓大家享受一個輕鬆舒適的好假日！父親節由蕭明緒先生主持的座談會，讓每個人受益匪淺。希望將來的活動能吸引更多會友的歡迎和參與！

Mother’s Day Picnic & Father's Day Activities Reports
 The Mother's Day picnic started at 11:00 at Watson Park, Shelter #1. Over 100 members attended.
Pork chops with special BBQ sauce, hamburgers, hot dogs, a smoked turkey were served. Potato salad, Black Bean & Corn Salad (recipe) served as side dish. Chips, ketchup, mustard, relish & bottle water were also provided. Some watermelons served at last were highly appreciated.
We played two games, “egg on the spoon” for mother & children; “dodge ball” for fathers.
 The Father's Day event started at 2:30 at Raytheon Park, 13th & Webb. About 40 members attended. Snack mix, watermelon and bottle water were served.
Mr. Hsiao, Ming-Hsu lead a panel discussion on “Auto, Home & Garden Maintenance.” He introduced many useful tools and products and explained some basic maintenance ideas. Some tools and products he introduced include:
Auto: jack, Fix Flat, Gum Out, WD 40, starting fluid, tune-up spray, a pink windshield fluid, oil filter, tires, auto battery.
Household: sink strainer, Scrub Free, mildew remover, toilet auto-cleaner, stainless steel pipe, ball valve, tank lever & handle, flapper, tape measure, safety glasses, shut-off valve, S hook, masking tape, FASTAPE.
Garden: leather gloves, snap-in connector, bypass pruner, plastic head hammer, Ironnite, socket wrench, 2” X 2”, 2” X 4”, cordless drill, knee pads, extension coupler, Slip-Fix, T-tube connector. Teflon tape, sprinkler heads, water heater & sprinkler system valve opener, anti-backflow device, different size of PVC tubes, tube cutter & gutter cover.
Mr. Hsiao is offering free consultations on basic repairs and maintenance to our members. You may call him when there’s a problem. Chances are he may be able to help you fix it or tell you where to get help. Many enthusiastic DIY members stuck around him and asked all kinds of questions after the demonstration. Thank you Mr. Hsiao! We all learned a lot from you.
We had a hula hoops competition after the panel discussion. Nathan Jin, Ted Ho and Sally Jones were the proud winners. Kevin Leung was the lucky winner for the door prize. (The dodge ball game was cancelled because it was too hot and we ran out of time.)
Everybody enjoyed a nice time at the two events!

Mr. Tom Chang, the owner of Yen Ching Restaurant, will demonstrate making some of his favorite dishes like Kimchee, Liang-chang-pe, a famous appetizer dish he created, BBQ ribs with special sauce, and possibly Hand-pulled noodles if he could find the special flour.
